A Pair Of Coffee-Pots To Stonehenge, September 2003

The Leighton Buzzard's annual Autumn Steam-Up in September 2003 gave the unique opportunity to see two De Winton design vertical boiler locomotives at work on a decent length line. Resident 1877 ‘Chaloner’ was joined by Alan Keef's replica ‘Taffy’ visiting for the weekend. Originally they were to work separately as neither is fitted with air-brake equipment, but the temptation was too much and accompanied by Hudson Hunslet diesel ‘Creepy’ to operate the brakes, Chaloner & Taffy spent the weekend double-heading trains. With such a tempting offering, a visit was essential!
