Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway, August 1978

A brief visit to Cleethorpes in August 1978 included a ride on the Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway. The line had a rather neglected look about it and the two steam locomotives (Peckett 'Jurassic' & Penrhyn Hunslet 'Elin') were securely locked in their shed, tantalising glimpses being visible through a crack in the door. The rolling stock provided the main interest, the day's train being formed of an ex Ashover Light Railway Gloucester RC&W carriage and under the roof of North Sea Lane station stood the sole carriage from the 18" gauge Sand Hutton Light Railway.

The images are not of the highest quality, these five photographs were almost the start of my slide collection and were taken on a Kodak 126 Instamatic camera with no exposure control on a rather gloomy day; perhaps in hindsight they might be considered exceptional considering the equipment involved! Within 8 weeks I had moved on to a 35mm camera with full manual exposure control, much more scope for getting the exposure wrong...
