The highlight of the weekend was the return of 'Russell' to the northern end of the line. The memory of the sound of 'Russell' leading 'Taliesin' up the hill below Tryfan Junction and then coming in to view as they passed the ruins of the station building will remain for a long time.  Perhaps it was the surprise of seeing a very different engine to that which had spent so long trundling to and fro along the short level line to Pen-y-mount, 'Russell' was transformed into an impressive, vociferous, thoroughbred that looked totally at home back on its stamping ground. Hopefully it will not be long before we see a 'Russell' back from overhaul and showing what she can do all the way to Rhyd Ddu.
