Autumn Steam-Up, September 1994 - Alice's Debut

The annual Steam-Up in September 2003 marked the end of Quarry Hunslet Alice's stay on the Leighton Buzzard Railway.  Alice made her public bow, appropriately, in an incomplete state at the Ffestiniog's Hunslet Hundred Gala in 1993 and then moved to Pages Park for an extended stay, making her debut at the September 1994 Steam-Up.  After putting up a few pages from the 2003 event, it seemed a good idea to find these from Alice's first weekend.

New Residents at Pages Park

A couple of interesting arrivals were on show outside the locomotive shed at Pages Park, an ex Matheran Hill Railway 0-6-0T and an ex-WD Baldwin 4-6-0T.  The Matheran loco was on loan from Railworld at Peterborough (where it had spent some time on a plinth in view of the East Coast Main Line) while the Baldwin had been moved the line for possible restoration from Amberley Chalk Pits Museum.
