Talyllyn Railway Vintage Train

For a bit of variety during the weekend of the Welsh Highland Railway 2001 gala I headed down the coast to the Talyllyn Railway to travel on a Vintage Special. The Talyllyn is probably unique in being able to turn out all the locomotives and carriages built for the opening of the line in the 1860s and now runs the vintage train as a timetabled service during the months before and after the main season. The day out on the line turned out to be one of the most pleasant and relaxing of the many journeys taken over the line.

Along with the photographs taken on the journey up the line in September 2001, a number of other photographs of the vintage train in action on other occasions have been included to add to this gallery.
